This standard for clothing and textile outdoor products was developed by VAUDE in 2010. Since 2025, it has been supported and further developed as an independent standard by Green Shape e.V. GRÜNER KNOPF (“GREEN BUTTON”):
The German textile seal GRÜNER KNOPF (“Green Button”) identifies textiles that meet high social and environmental standards. This seal also verifies corporate due diligence with regard to human rights and ecological criteria. The publisher of the GREEN BUTTON seal is the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Likewise, the GREEN BUTTON is a national and European certification mark. The certification programme is based on ISO 17065 and is validated by the German Accreditation Body.
