The CC-2 chain checker by Park Tool allows you to quickly and accurately determine the wear and stretch of your chain. Once a bicycle chain suffers from premature elongation or stretch due to wear, the rollers have less grip on the teeth of chainring and sprockets. This increases wear of all drivetrain components, reduces power transfer and prevents clean shifting.
Simply insert the chain wear gauge's pins into two links, lightly press the swing arm gauge, and then check the gauge window for an accurate reading. Depending on the manufacturer’s instructions, chains should be checked regularly and replaced at or before 1% elongation.
Details:
• Practical measuring tool to check for chain stretch
• For all common ½“ bicycle chains
• Pivoting gauge with a reading of .25% steps
• Easy to read window
• Easy to use
• Material: metal
• Dimensions: approx. 23 x 6 x 2,5 cm
• Weight: approx. 45 g
Note: Because a chain must have a small amount of play in the links to run smoothly, the CC-2 will show a reading of .25% (or more) on new chains. This does not mean that the chain is .25% worn. It only means there is .25% play built into the links of the chain before it starts to wear. No matter what the reading of a new chain, it should be replaced according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
