Cycling for a more sustainable future

Measuring, understanding, and reducing emissions in product manufacturing

Since 2018, we have been recording our carbon footprint together with Climate Partner and deriving different measures from this. In 2024, we expanded our accounting to include products such as bicycles, parts, clothing and accessories. We work closely with our suppliers to further improve our processes. Together with eight other bicycle brands and Shift Cycling Culture, we have developed a training programme that teaches our partners how to measure and reduce emissions. So far, 67 of our suppliers have taken part.

Next steps: We are working to reduce our emissions by improving our data basis and using it to develop further reduction strategies.

Establishing consistent standards across the supply chain

Responsibility involves ensuring appropriate working conditions and environmental standards both in Germany and throughout the entire supply chain, including countries in Asia where a large proportion of our products are manufactured. In addition to the existing Code of Conduct, a joint Code of Conduct has been developed as part of an industry-wide project.

Next steps: In 2026 we want to
implement the industry Code of Conduct with our suppliers. We continue to collaborate with other cycling companies to drive improvements in the supply chain. Because only together can we counter the challenges in global supply chains.

Expand climate protection

Our climate protection strategies are based on the results of our carbon footprint. We implement measures, particularly in the area of packaging, which is a major contributor to our carbon footprint. This includes adapting our packaging boxes, reducing the amount of filling material, and using packaging materials that contain recycled content, such as the polybags for our Rose clothing collection.

Next steps: Our flagship store Biketown is currently undergoing energy-efficiency refurbishment. We are also working with a partner company to develop a waste management strategy aimed at significantly reducing the volume of waste generated in our assembly processes and identifying opportunities for recycling to keep materials in the circular economy.

Promote sustainable mobility

We are committed to sustainable mobility, also through active political involvement. We exchange ideas with decision-makers at municipal and state level and contribute our perspective. In 2024, for example, we took part in the project “Trendwerkstadt Bocholt” and developed ideas for a low-traffic city centre, safe cycle paths and mobility concepts in collaboration with citizens, companies, and institutions.

Next steps: In cooperation with the expert Marco te Brömmelstroet from the University of Amsterdam, we are planning to develop a new communication approach with which we can reach both political decision-makers and consumers.

Create an appreciative working environment

Our employees are the basis for responsible behaviour at Rose. That is why we attach great importance to employee participation, equal rights and appreciation. A Works Council was established in 2024, contributing significantly to strengthening employee participation. We have also introduced a Social Code in which we formulate our commitment to human rights and our understanding for positive cooperation.

Next steps:  We are planning to expand ergonomic workstations. Cooperation with the Works Council is to be strengthened in order to further promote employee participation. We are currently organising targeted training courses on the Social Code and are planning to develop teams and managers through new qualification measures.
